Little is known about the people or organizations responsible for the project, and conflicting data makes it hard to attribute the nationality of the attackers. While the malware developers spoke Russian, many of the exploits used to hijack victim computers were initially developed by Chinese hackers.

I'm guessing it's Chinese. The Russians would be hired guns, because they're the best. China is the glaring omission in countries targeted.

Kaspersky  is a top name in security. McAfee and Norton are not.

Yeah, but I never know how much weight to put on reports from them, since they're often of the buy-our-services type.
